A V2G (Vehicle to Grid) energy exchange system for electric vehicles, based on cybersecure solutions in smart city environments, was developed, tested and evaluated. Information management in V2G environments was approached using a technological solution based on the immutability and trustworthiness of the data exchanged in the processes involved. To achieve that, techniques for developing cybersecure services and devices were studied and evaluated, a catalogue of V2G services for smart city environments was built, a distributed blockchain platform was developed to provide support for those services, secure wireless communication technologies (LoRaWAN, 5G) were studied and characterised, a full demonstration unit was built (electric charger, user app, management web app, blockchain infrastructure), and their functionality and performance have been evaluated. The goal of all that is to promote the transition to a less polluting model of mobility through developing secure and trustworthy information services aimed at different actors (end users, suppliers and generators), that facilitates migration to electric vehicles connected to the network.
Cybersecure software development methods for V2G systems, and a private blockchain network based on Ethereum with support for smart contracts, and that guarantees traceability, integrity, authenticity and availability of transactions between users of the system were developed and analysed. Transactions between users, the electric charger and the system software (user app + infrastructure management software), are managed automatically using the smart contracts, which guarantees the autonomy of the system as well as its security and availability.
In regard to the wireless communications required for the functionality of the system, the coverage/capacity relationships of them were analysed, and experiments were done with technology by using an O-RAN OAI architecture to be able to test 4G and 5G network functionalities with the SDR (Software Defined Radio) platform at a software level.
