SciencEkaitza

SciencEkaitza is an ADItech initiative that has been held on four occasions. It began in 2018 with the aim of being a celebration — a celebration of science and technology. The goal was to establish itself as a key event for scientific culture in Navarre and to honour the research community. For the first three events, SciencEkaitza was a scientific competition-gala, presenting awards for more than 20 disruptive ideas in 2018, 2019 and 2021. The ideas submitted to the competition were evaluated by an international jury of recognised prestige. These figures from the world of science and culture joined us during the awards ceremony, helping to bring the SINAI to the people of Navarre on a large scale through their presentations.

This initiative brought together 3 Nobel laureates in Pamplona; Sophia, the most advanced humanoid in the world; an entrepreneur and renowned writer; a “radical thinker” and European inventor of the year 2017; one of the most famous botanists from Kew Gardens in London… and even a Monty Python!

SciencEkaitza became a regional benchmark for scientific dissemination. It received the MECNA distinction, as an activity of “Social Interest” in its first three years. SciencEkaitza also organised numerous parallel activities: conferences, book signings, film series, exhibitions, etc.

In its last edition, SciencEkaitza 2023 evolved and became an event whose objectives were to bring SINAI closer to the business fabric and society. This new edition was based on three lines: the Open SINAI fair, presentations and round tables, and an awards ceremony.

The Open SINAI Fair was a commercial exhibition space for companies and stakeholders in the Navarre R&D+I System. The presentations and round tables focused on three thematic blocks: digital transformation, open innovation and ecological transition. Finally, the awards ceremony recognised projects funded by the Government of Navarre that are being developed between companies and/or SINAI-affiliated bodies.

SciencEkaitza was made possible thanks to the support of FECYT-Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the 16 public and private bodies (sponsors of the 2018, 2019 and 2021 events) and the Government of Navarre, which also sponsored the event in 2023.

2025 Edition

SciencEkaitza 2025 is a journey into the future. On 21 May, the fifth SciencEkaitza will take place in Baluarte. This event aims to showcase future trends and the forefront of science, highlighting how Navarre is working towards achieving this future and how it will impact businesses and society. SciencEkaitza aims to foster scientific culture, bring science closer to society and show the importance of R&D+I in preparing for the future and making progress. Therefore, it is also intended to be a tribute to the companies that do R&D and to the Navarre R&D+I System, SINAI, to everyone who does R&D in Navarre.

At the 2025 event, SciencEkaitza will consist of an exhibition and an awards ceremony.

At the 2023 edition, the Open SINAI fair was held, and there were several presentations and round tables, and an awards ceremony.

At this SciencEkaitza, three categories of awards were announced, corresponding to calls for grants in the field of R&D+I funded by the Government of Navarre: strategic R&D projects, collaborative R&D projects, and grants for the implementation of R&D projects. The winning projects in each category were chosen solely by the citizens through their votes on the SciencEkaitza website (www.sciencekaitza.com).
