Detalles

In the EU, around 20% of the total food produced is lost or wasted with associated costs estimated at 143 billion euros. Wasting food is not only an ethical and economic issue but it also depletes the environment of limited natural resources. Using unavoidable biomass and waste as a resource is therefore key to achieve a sustainable food system that is fit for the future, in line with the ambition of Food 2030.

This WG meeting focuses on the valorisation of food waste and aims to showcase innovative examples of how regions and cities around Europe are considering food waste as a resource and using it to create new opportunities for their actors. Additionally, the European Commission will present the latest developments of the Food 2030 strategy – the research and innovation policy framework that aims to transform our food systems, and highlight the links to Horizon Europe
